With their help and maybe some Hedonist, you must take over the BIG SCREEN T.V. to watch the ever popular “An Evening with Kevin Smith”…. or at least that is what Pat and Tom told you. Just remember to watch out for John!

Level 5 A Level With Kevin Smith
You got sucked into the screen and are immersed into a hodge podge of Kevin Smith movies. Watch out for enemies and other characters from the movies for help. To meet thy maker, collect and return 37 movies to Big Choice.

Level 6 Columbia Under Construction
As you are spewed back into the real world, not sure if you had just dreamed that or it really happened, you stagger your way along Columbia in the midst of its widening process. Watch out for pits and other constuction mayhem, and hopefully you will make it to the house of the wise old Sage Donny.

Level 7 110
As you enter you are confronted with a huge screen TV and shelves of DVDs. You think this house might be a little strange, but you were told to come here. As you make your way through, you are confronted by assorted TV evils that block your way. There is one last person you need to get through before you can hear Donny’s much needed words.

Level 8 Fortress of Solitude
You now know that you must head to the 6th floor of the Fortress of Solitude, but you don’t know what will await you on each floor. Tread carefully, and hopefully you will make your way to the end.

So there it is guys. Hopefully this game will actually get made. People like Pat and Tom (the dynamic duo) and Donny and Doug. Donny hands out fried rice, and Doug supplies the always-present Coke, both of which increase your health. Pat and Tom help guide you by telling stories of times gone by. The Dons create havoc for you and generally block your way. Give me a day or two before major visiting... I just started eating real food today, so I'm fairly worn down. The plan for now is to go back to living in my apartment and have Dave stay with me until I'm on my feet again, so to speak. For those of you who live near by, if you have some spare time over the next week or two and want to do your part in the help Becky recover (HBR) effort, just let Dave or I know when you can come over and we will let you know what would be nice for you to help with. I have no control over anything and people don't trust me here. I'm used to looking out for myself when in the hospital and I can't do anything to help myself even when I try. For instance, they changed my dressings on my catheters today at dialysis... but someone did a really shitty job and they are litterally falling off. I asked the nurse for a new dressing, but they aren't "allowed to touch them" here on the floor. It's a simple dressing, that I had been trained to do myself, and quite frankly I do a much better job of it all around. Finally someone from the dialysis unit made there way up here, but had been given the wrong information and brought the wrong supplies. It took over 3 hours to get this process done, which could have taken 5 minutes if the nurse just listened to me and gave me the supplies. It's stupid stuff like that drives me crazy. I know what to do, how to do it, and probably do a better job... but i'm not allowed! At first I thought I was spoiled at the other hospitals i've been to, but i'm slowly realizing, that it isn't spoiling, it's treating me like a human being who is an equal, and not an involed. This equality was even present at the Children's Hospitals i've been to, if not more so. I don't know what to do about the system here, but I really don't want to stay here at this hospital much longer; as an in-patient or as a simple dialysis patient.

In the Hospital

So, it's 2:37 am and I'm in the hospital after my surgery. Things went fairly well, except for a small delay this morning, because some of my blood work was weird. They ended up retaking it and it turned out fine, so with a close to 2 hour delay my surgery got underway. Everything went fine and I'm feeling well. I actually had just got up for a walk before coming on-line here, and felt fine on my feet. My stomach is upset once every so often, but it isn't a big deal; I think it just needs some food in it to work on.
As far as visiting goes. I have dialysis tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 so if you do want to visit in the afternoon i'll be on 3E at the dialysis unit. My room at the moment (and hopefully to the end of my stay, because it is a private room) is 6D26. We figure I'll be in until atleast the middle of next week, and hopefully out by the weekend at the latest. As always, email me to check if i'm up for visitors or give me a call. You should be able to get ahold of me one way of the other. Call the hospital and ask for my room if you want to phone me. Please keep in mind that visiting hours are between 1:30 and 8:30.
Well that is all for now, hope to hear from you soon.

Back to a form of the real world

Well, hello all. I'm well on the road to recovery at this point. My surgery (number 1) went well and I think i'm officially off of the tylenol 3s at this point. My stomach really doesn't like them and so the sooner I get off of them the better I feel. I'm still not able to move my arm fully and am still on extra strength tylenol for the most part, but i'm feeling well and alot less tired. Anyways, just thought i'd let you all know... so there we go!

One Day at a Time

Well, my two surgeries are fast approaching and to be quite honest i'm at the end of my emotional rope. I've spent the last day crying a fair bit. Last night at dialysis I was told I needed a new line put in, only thing is this one is going to be in my leg. I'm really worried about it and how much i'll be able to do once it is in. My first surgery is a week away, November 5th. It is just a day surgery and I should be home that evening. The second is at the end of the month, the 26th, and I'm guessing i'll be in for atleast a week. I'm not too worried about my surgeries, but it's just everything put together in such a tight time frame. I'm also trying to finish up my one and only course but things keep happening with that to mess things up. I was supposed to complete 2 labs today that I would be missing later this term, but I don't feel up to it today emotionally, and also I don't know when my line is going to be put in (i'm waiting for the call). I'm also getting the DE cd's for this course, but my cd-rom has decided to stop working. Things like this wouldn't normally bother me, but they are at this time. So, for everyone who is reading this... give me a little space, I'm sorry if I flip out on you, and please try to bare with me. I need my friends more then ever right now, but I may not always be in the mood for visiting.

the greasy slut!

So it was around 7:15 on a Wednesday night. Dave and Isaac had just returned from Yoga and were very hungry, not forgetting to mention myself who was also fairly hungry. "What do we want to eat?" we asked each other. Finally I gave the suggestion of Pizza Hut. Dave and I thought that was a great idea; Dan the one who only wanted coffee, was agreeable; Isaac needed a little coaxing. The coaxing involved Dave offering to pay for Isaac. So off we headed to the Pizza Hut, or the greasy slut as we preferred to call it in our chant. We got there and waited to be seated, it happened to be in a booth that we could have mistakenly tripped into coming through the front doors but that was okay. Dave and I made a quick decsion about the pizza and we ordered. Our first pizza arrived with a sadden waiter TJ. He informed us that our other pizza had blown up! That's right Ka-Boom in the pizza oven, and that another one was on its way. We hadn't had plates waiting for us, so he said he would bring some for us. We didn't wait for the plates however, the "works edge crust" pizza was calling our name. We actually polished it off in possibly record time. TJ had probably forgotten about our plates, because the next thing he brought was our second (non exploded) pizza, a triple crown edge crust. Tj's eyes almost buldged out of their sockets when he arrived with the second pizza because the first was already gone. This one disapeared in a little slower fashion, but not much and the plates arrived intime for us to eat some of the pizza off of them. Dan and Isaac were stuffed, Dave and I were well... thinking about ordering another pizza but thought better of it. With a promise of cheese quesadilla later in the evening Dave agreed to return to 110 satisfied with what was in his tummy at the time.

Friday Night Pot Lucks!

Just thought I should post some stuff about the pot lucks my apartment has been having. We have had some great turn-outs so far this term. They are every Friday night at 6:00. Everyone is welcome, but please bring something to share with the group, even if it is just drinks... drinks are a very important part of the meal. Dessert usually seems to be the one thing that is brought most often, so keep that in mind when you are thinking about what to bring. If you are concered about what to bring, give the apartment a call (email me to find out the number) and we should be able to suggest what kind of dish to bring. So, come on out, and bring some yummy food. You will have a good time! Oh by the way. We are planning on having a Formal Pot Luck probably on the 22nd. I'll post more details when I know more....

Long Time No Post

Hi everyone,

I just thought I should update you about my situation. I've had a few doctors appointments over the past weeks with a couple more to go still. I have possible dates for up comming surgeries, both will be in November. On November 5th, i'll be having a new graft (dialysis access) put in my arm in London. On November 27th, I'm having my ileostomy reversed... WOOHOO! That one will be here in Waterloo at Grand River Hospital. The other medical issue that i've been dealing with is having inadaquet dialysis, which means I get to be a punk... I mean feel "punky". That is the medical term for the way you feel when you are not being dialysized enough. You feel tired and generally unable to function well as far as doing reading and anything else the requires much concentration. Let's just say my sim city's are really doing well ;) Anyways, I think things are going to get better, my treatment on Saturday went very well, and i've been feeling much better over the weekend.

Mike's Bachelor Party

Here are a bunch of Pictures from Mike's Bachelor Party. Of course I took him up on his offer. I picked him up around 6:00 and we headed to Subway. We chatted about assorted things, and eventually (okay, maybe eventually isn't the right word. Perhaps it was more like as we got out of the car...) we got to the topic of Dave. While in New York, Dave and his relatives went to a Certified Kosher Indian restaurant that displayed there certificate in the front window. Isaac of course found this very amusing. Anyways, we headed over to 110 after and I did Daves laundry (yes I did do Daves laundry, but only because it was towels and sheets and things he used right before leaving and didn't have time to wash before leaving) and we watched some Olympics with Lydia. I thought the kayaking and canoeing course was really amazing. The engeneering it took to make the water go the way they wanted must have been huge. Anyways, Isaac and Adam headed off to rent a movie and came back with 2 Fast 2 Furious, and also some other b-rated sci-fi movie. I was getting tired by that time, so I headed off for home. I got a call from Dave later and I'm probably going to meet him and his family somewhere outside of the city on one of their stops in the afternoon. That should be fun. I'm excited that Dave will be home tomorrow, I really do miss him. Speaking of coming home, Marika and Donny returned from out east tonight. Anyways, Dave will be back tomorrow, and we will be pretty busy with weddings and moving after that!
In conclusion, I had a really good night, thanks to everyone who was apart of it!

Pictures from the summer

Here some pictures taken when a group of us went out for dinner at Mediterraneo and also just general hanging out.

Time for a little rant.

As most of you know who are reading this, I have have some major health problems. My kidneys don't work and in order to continue living I have to go and have dialysis treatments 3 times a week at the local hospital. Now, when some random person, whether it's a new friend, or just someone being curious, I usually don't mind too much retelling my whole story.
However, when someone like a nurse or doctor goes and asks me stuff that I know for sure is in my chart it really bugs me! Things that if you remembered anything about my medical history you would know the answers to. I've had 2 transplants and they didn't work. They don't know why, so don't go asking me if i'm on the waiting list or anything else to do with transplants. It's not a topic that is open for discussion. Some days I just want to put a big sticker on my chart that says "this patient is stuck on dialysis indeffinately, she knows what is out there for options, and she probably knows more about it than you, so shut up". It's true.

My nurse today did the usual line of questions, are you on the transplant list? No. Why not? see above. What about dialysis at home? Been there, can't anymore. But what about Hemodialysis at home? I know the nurse who ran the study program in London about 5 years back, I probably know more about it than you. I'm a student that moves (which they also know, and we had just talked about roughly 5 minutes prior) and that makes it very impractical to even think about doing dialysis at home. Oh.

And that's it when i'm lucky. Now, when the doctors come along, and don't look at your chart and go through the whole set of questions, but only this time they are convinced there must be something that you don't know but they do. Either some new unheard of option, or why the transplants didn't work, or some random piece of information about the dialysis options that you didn't know. Sorry, I did know all that, and you are wasting my time! Please, if I need anything, I'll ask, if not... I don't really need you!

Okay, it think i'm done ranting for now.
Sorry about the rant, but with Dave gone, I don't have anyone to release my frustrations upon.

Even More Pictures

This is an album of pictures from my past Grebel years.

Pictures of Dave and Me!

Still more pictures. It was with my substitute boyfriend. The one who comes to my side whenever my real boyfriend leaves the country it seems. So we started the evening with appatizers at the Raintree, a shared serving of venus dip (cheese, artichoke, and lots of yummy garlis) served with foccia, and Dan had a small bowl of Carrot and Ginger soup. We both had wraps for the main course, mine was of the mediteranian variety, while his was classified as Mermaid ( I think because it has fish, salmon to be exact).
We continued the evening at Symposium for dessert and coffee, well Dan had coffee, i don't care for the stuff. The desserts there are always wonderful, with lots of variety, if you like cheese cake. I had the cherry cheese cake while Dan had the chocolate strawberry cheese cake. We called it a night after that, and went are sepperate ways. I think we both had an enjoyable time, and will do it again sometime.

The Cakes i've made

Her is another album you can look at with some of the cakes It's SimCity 3000. It's alot different than SimCity 2000, which is what i've been playing a lot, with Dave recently. The new version is much more compilcated, and more challenging. Not to say that I don't like it, but it is taking some getting used to. I do like the fact that it incorporates things like recycling and other evironmental issues. Anyways, that's all i've got to say on that one. It's a good game, you should try it sometime.

Some time to myself...

As some of you may know, Dave, my boyfriend is gone for a week. He's visiting his grandparents and cousins in the New York area. Not only is Dave gone, but my house mate is also on vacation with her boyfriend, and the school term is over, and most of my friends who were in school have headed off home too. What this amounts to is a lot of time to myself. Now, if you know me, I'm a very social person, and not having many people around, is a bit tough on me. So, I've finally decided to get one. Now the main reason that i'm getting this, is to put pictures online. I was just at
Sacka's Blog and read about Picasa. Picasa is an image editing software, which is now owned by Google. It turns out you can use this program and Blogspot together to put pictures online, which is what i've also been told I should do. So here it all goes. Wish me luck.
